Ryan Gosling To Be Honored With SBIFF's Most Prestigious Award: Kirk Douglas Award For Excellence In Film!

Fresh off of his Grammys nomination, 'Barbie' actor Ryan Gosling is set to be honored by the Santa Barbara International Film Festival with it's most prestigious honor, with the 16th Annual Kirk Douglas Award For Excellence In Film. Ryan Gosling has had a stellar career from classic rom coms like 'The Notebook', gritty thrillers like 'Drive', his Oscar nominated performance in La La Land & of course playing the iconic Ken in the recent "Barbie' film. This announcement comes off of the end of the actors strike and superstars & film festivals coming together for great celebrations. The ceremony will take place January 13th, 2024 at the illustrious Ritz Carlton-Bacara, Santa Barbara.
Executive Director of SBIFF had glowing words to say about Ryan Gosling,"“Ryan Gosling has long been both a dramatic and comedic force in front of the camera. This year, thanks to his universally hailed, triumphant performance as Ken in BARBIE – a film that truly demanded the attention of critics and moviegoers around the world – he has become a true cinematic powerhouse." The 39th Santa Barbara International Film Festival will take place LIVE February 7 - February 17, 2024. Official events including events, screenings, filmmaker & actor Q&As, industry panels, and celebrity tributes, will be held throughout the city, including at the well known Arlington Theatre.
The Santa Barba International Film Festival honors the best in cinemea every year. Last year's recpiant was 'Everything Everywhere All At Once' actress Michelle Yeoh. She went on to win Best Actress at the Oscars. It was incredible being there talking to her as well as The Daniels, filmmakers behind 'Everywhere All At Once'.
