'The Piano Lesson' Premiere Recap: A Celebration of Black Excellence & Denzel Washington's Family Legacy

The night was special already because Denzel Washington was beaming with pride looking at his family on the red carpet for The Piano Lesson form Netflix. Based on August Wilson's classic play, Denzel was entrusted with the rights of his plays to adapt them to films. Denzel not only took this mantle with great honor he extended the themes of August Wilson's plays was all about: family, Black life, and excellence. With Denzel Washington's wife, Paulleta Washington she serves as producer and starring in 'The Piano Lesson'. She seemingly is the anchor of the Washington family, as Denzel stated in his recent Esquire cover article. Malcolm Washington, Denzel's son, is the director of the film. A strong debut, as he translates the play to a cinematic wonder. John David Washington, Denzel's eldest son, beams superstar status. Katia Washington, Denzel's daughter, is the executive producer of 'The Piano Lesson'. A Family Affair. Legacy, Legacy, Legacy.
An endearing moment was whent the cast chanted and praised Danielle Deadwyler, who was coming from the ELLE Women In Hollywwood celebration.A sheepish Danielle was blushing and in awe. That was the feeling about the premiere. It was warmn, it was famililal, it was home. An unexpected suprise too was musical artist Tyler The Creator. A fixture at Hollywood premeires it was pure Black boy joy from him and Malcolm Washington on the red carpet. Inside as the audience was buzzing the opening remarks from filmmaker Malcolm Washington touched on the familiar themes:community, family, and a sense of oneness.
The new class of Black excellence was at the Egyptian Theater that night to celebrate Netflix's 'The Piano Lesson'. Also in the cast in supporting roles: Gail Bean looked the amazing starlet she has always been. Corey Hawkins being regal as ever, just smartly chasing these roles in his career, embraced his cast members, I'm sorry, his found family of fellow creatives. What a spectacular night that christens a new age of Hollywood. With Denzel's legacy front and center through his family who are all brilliant creative forces.
