Comedic Icon Dave Chappelle Set To Receive President’s Awards Honors At 2025 NAACP Image Awards!

Comedic icon Dave Chappelle is set to be honored at the 56th annual NAACP Image Awards with the esteemed President’s Award Honoree. The 56th annual NAACP Image Awards will be held February 22nd, 2025 LIVE on BET and CBS, 8pm PT/ET. This award has been given to previous recipients such as Muhhamad Ali, Jay Z, Spike Lee, Rhianna, and many more icons. What's so great about this award in my opinion is that it gives retrospective look at the star's life and contributions to entertainment. Dave Chapelle has a storied career, earlier on in film being in such hits like:The Nutty Professor with Eddie Murphy and Blue Streak with Martin Lawrence. His breakout came with his groundbreaking standup comedy shows and of course his namesake, Chappelle's Show on Comedy Central. You can say that the breakout skits that made many laugh were the first of it's kind to go "viral" in the emerging Social Media / digital platforming landscape. At the height of the Chappelle's Show, Dave had left. Leaving people in wonder, Dave had made a triumphant return with multiple and lucrative stand up specials exclusively on Netflix. He went on to host SNL many times, winning 5 Primetime Emmys, and many more accolades. 

 

Known for his biting commentary in his stand up Chappelle is hailed as the best comedian. The NAACP Image Awards celebrates the excellency in film, television, digital, literary and music of African Americans of this year. The special part for me and the Image Awards is covering it year in and year out since 2014. It's a celebration of us!
